About Selby Family Clinic
Opening Hours, Fees, Appointments & Services
Individual doctors set their own schedule of fees, and the fees vary.
We request that your consultation is paid in full at the time of your visit, by cash, cheque, eftpos or credit card. You are welcome to ask our reception staff about the fee structure of individual doctors when making your appointment.
Fees also apply for new referrals requested without seeing the doctor. Please note, it is illegal for Doctors to backdate referrals so please ensure you do not attend a Specialist appointment without a valid referral.
A $40, $90 or $130 out of pocket fee applies for use of the treatment room for procedures such as removal of foreign body, skin lesions, IUD, suturing etc. This gap is on the lesser scale for pensioners and dependent on the procedure so please ensure you discuss with your doctor before the procedure. This fee is to cover the costs of equipment, sutures , dressing , sterilizing and doctor and nurse's time.
If your account is overdue for more than 60 days, please advise us of the delay, otherwise you will be asked to pay in full for future consultations. As we are now linked to Easyclaims, your refund is available immediately into your EFTPOS account or via HIC On-Line deposited to the account registered with Medicare within 1-2 days. Medicare cheques are only issued to the Doctor for unpaid accounts, usually within 21 days of consultation. If you haven’t received our cheque within this time, it is your responsibility to contact Medicare.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, or anything you think may be urgent please tell our receptionists so they can transfer your call to the nurse or doctor.
Long Appointments: Please book a longer appointment if discussing mental health issues or if you need several matters dealt with/have a complex issue.
Changing Appointments: Should you wish to change an appointment, we would appreciate as much notice as possible so that other patients can be offered your time. A non-rebatable fee will apply if you miss a confirmed appointment, without adequate notice.
After Hours Advice: Yes we offer after hours advice for regular patients of our clinic by phoning the clinic phone number where an answering machine will give instructions. This service is not bulk billed.
SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING FIRE RISK MONTHS
We will be closed on CODE RED days with possibly reduced services on EXTREME days. (NOTE: This does NOT mean total fire ban days). A message will be on our answering machine and the usual on call arrangements will apply. We will notify patients with appointments on the day before such days.
